The films Cycle, Emergence, Flight, and Variance, establish uncommon fields of vision that amplify the transitory mechanics of change in nature. Playing with the compression and expansion of time and motion – a dozen species of flowers bloom and decay, the two week emergence of a swallowtail from chrysalis unfolds in minutes, flight patterns are slowed to 1/ 600th of their speed, a taxonomical collection of butterfly species from around the world becomes animate – the installation renders transient moments tangible, and provides a portal for the viewer to experience the fluctuations and nuances of engineering in our ecological landscapes.
Andrew spent several months working with Bono’s (RED) organization to create the catalogue imagery for Jony Ive and Marc Newson’s (RED) design auction at Sotheby’s, which will be held on November 23rd. All proceeds from the evening will be donated to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa.
