Flower
Inspired by the botanical drawings of the 19th century and culled from an investigation of over 300 species, the studio captured the subjects of Flower with taxonomical precision in a signature clarifying field of white light. The glossy, 300-page, linen-bound compendium, created with the generous support of the New York Botanical Garden and Smithsonian Institute, is a defining visual study of plant life, both exotic and commonplace, which artist and filmmaker David Lynch has called “a grand celebration of mother nature’s artistry.” Flower includes a taxonomical index of botanical classifications for each of the species photographed and was envisioned, says Zuckerman, “as a kind of document or record of a subject often obscured by its environment or symbolic associations.”
